Winsor Surpasses $75 Million in Historic Campaign

With landmark gifts and momentum building, the Winsor Leads campaign enters its final phase.
The Winsor School has surpassed an extraordinary milestone in its $100 million campaign, Winsor Leads—raising more than $75 million to date. As one of the most ambitious endowment campaigns ever undertaken by a girls’ school, this achievement marks a powerful moment for the Winsor community and the generations of students to come.
“This incredible milestone is a testament to the vision, generosity, and commitment of our community,” said Erika McMahon, Chief Advancement Officer. “Winsor Leads is not only shaping the future of this institution, but the future of every student who walks through our doors.”
The campaign has already resulted in transformational progress. Among its early accomplishments:
• The creation of two pioneering endowed chairs: the Lisa Stone Endowed Chair for Crew, the first to support an athletic position at Winsor, and the Bezan Chair for Community and Inclusion, the first of its kind in the nation and which was featured in NAIS magazine.
• $18 million in unrestricted endowment gifts, empowering Winsor to remain flexible, strategic, and bold in responding to institutional needs.
• A surge in endowed scholarships and student experience funds, which have helped increase the school’s financial aid revenue to 20.5%
Endowed funds like the Smith Magruder Family Science Discipline Fund, the Libby Parsley Endowed Fund for Faculty, Cromwell Family Scholarship Fund, the Gordon Family Faculty Support Fund, the Russell Family Wellness Fund, and the Equitable Experience Fund have been crucial in the development of an increased financial aid budget, faculty compensation, and programmatic support, in perpetuity, support categories that the school hopes to grow by the end of the Winsor Leads Campaign.
“These commitments are opening doors,” said McMahon. “They’re ensuring that students from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds can thrive at Winsor—and that every student has access to an extraordinary education and community.”
The campaign has also galvanized widespread engagement, with alumnae participation surpassing 50%, and individual gifts received from 46 states and the District of Columbia.
And the momentum continues. Several recently secured commitments will soon be announced, building on the energy of this milestone moment. “Stay tuned,” McMahon added, “as we celebrate the next wave of visionary giving and prepare to welcome incoming Head of School Meredith Legg this July.”
President of the Winsor Board of Trustees Allison Kaneb Pellegrino ’89, P’21, ’22 shared, “This is a historic moment for Winsor and girls’ education, and as we enter the final stretch of this campaign we hope you’ll take this once-in-a-generation opportunity to join me in shaping a future where every girl has the chance to lead and thrive.”
As Winsor looks to the future, one thing is clear: the community’s belief in the school’s mission is stronger than ever. Together, they are writing the next chapter in Winsor’s history—and ensuring that the school’s transformative impact endures for generations to come.
